The general outlook on the Samsung Series 7 Chronos is generally positive. The powerful hardware and slim build are among its unique selling points. Just a couple of years ago, it was unthinkable to cram gaming-capable graphics card and quad-core processor (Intel Core i7-3635QM) in a 27mm-thick laptop.

The Samsung Series 7 Chronos doesn’t get unpleasantly loud or warm in full load 3D mode. Samsung achieves this by throttling the processor; between one and three of the cores drop to 1.2GHz temporarily even when running hardware-intensive software. Fortunately, no significant performance drop is detected when this occurs.

The 17” display comes with its own strengths and flaws, but the drawbacks shouldn’t keep potential consumers from buying this machine. The full HD display has convenient high contrast level. Another important feature is the Radeon HD 8870M which supports DirectX 11.1. CoD: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) can reach more than 50fps at highest detail settings.
